Laurence H. Kedes, M.D., Senior Advisor and Scientific Director

At the helm of the University of Southern California's Institute for Genetic Medicine is Dr. Laurence H. Kedes. He holds the William M. Keck Professorship at USC. Trained as both a physician and a scientist, Dr. Kedes directs the institute in its commitment to advancing scientific understanding of human disease. Dr. Kedes is a molecular geneticist. He was among the first to demonstrate the organization of genes in animal cells, and presently, Dr. Kedes focuses his research on the genetic regulation of muscle and heart cells. Dr. Kedes is now the Senior Advisor to the Archon X PRIZE for Genomics and co-chairman of the Archon X PRIZE for Genomics Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Kedes received his M.D. from Stanford University in 1962. Prior to joining USC, Dr. Kedes was a Professor of Medicine at Stanford University.

	Marc Hodosh , Senior Advisor

Marc Hodosh is President of TED MED, a conference he is re-launching in the fall of 2009, in partnership with TED founder, Richard Wurman.

Marc previously led the Archon X PRIZE for Genomics before stepping down to focus his time on TED MED.

He has been a consultant to inventor Dean Kamen at DEKA Research & Development and is also Chairman of Dean’s FIRST Robotics competition in Boston, inspiring thousands of high school students to pursue careers in science & technology.

Additionally, Marc founded and sold, ID One, which specialized in facial recognition technology for the U.S. military and intelligence communities. Just prior, he led business development at Viisage Technology, a publicly traded, biometric and secure ID company. Marc’s first business endeavors began by inventing and importing a variety of consumer products from Asia, with distribution through Bed Bath & Beyond, QVC television, Toys-R-Us, and others. These products were acquired by the industry’s leader and continue to sell successfully at major retail outlets, worldwide.

Marc holds a BA in Psychology/Neuroscience from Ithaca College and a Masters in Medicine from Boston University Medical School.
